How Professional Verification Works on BeautyBye

Beauty professional verification is the check that makes BeautyBye a professional-only marketplace. Before anyone can buy or sell, they submit evidence of their professional standing, such as a qualification certificate, licence, insurance or proof of salon employment, and BeautyBye's team reviews it privately. Here's who can join, what evidence helps, how decisions are made, and why both buyers and sellers go through it.
Who Is BeautyBye For?
BeautyBye is for verified beauty professionals and beauty businesses, including:
nail technicians
lash technicians and brow artists
beauticians and beauty therapists
skin therapists and facialists
waxing specialists
hair professionals
salon owners and managers
beauty educators and academies
Why Verification Matters
Professional beauty products and equipment are made for trained professionals. Verifying everyone means:
sellers know who's buying. A lash adhesive, a lamination system or a builder gel goes to someone with professional standing, which matters for chemical products that manufacturers label for professional use.
buyers know who's selling. A verified professional is more likely to understand storage, dates and condition, and to describe them accurately.
the marketplace stays focused on trade stock, not consumer products.
Many marketplaces check sellers, if they check anyone. BeautyBye checks both sides, because professional trust runs both ways. For more, see why BeautyBye is a professional-only beauty marketplace.
How Verification Works
Sign up and create your account.
Tell BeautyBye your profession and submit a verification request.
Upload evidence of your professional standing.
The team reviews it privately. Evidence is seen by authorised staff and is never shown to other users as a public certificate.
You get a decision. Your submission may be approved, you may be asked for clearer or additional information, or it may be declined. Some account features may be limited while checks continue.
Account approval gives you access to buy. Selling is a separate step. To sell, you also need an approved seller profile and payout setup with BeautyBye's payment provider, so you can receive money from parcel sales.
What Evidence Can You Submit?
Evidence relevant to your work, such as:
a professional qualification or training certificate
a licence
professional insurance
evidence of salon employment
business information for a salon or beauty business
BeautyBye may also ask for identity and contact details. Only upload genuine, current documents that you're entitled to share. False, altered, borrowed or misleading evidence can lead to denial or account restriction.
Preparing Your Evidence
Verification is quicker when your evidence is easy to review:
Use a clear, complete image or scan: all four corners visible, in focus, with no glare over names or dates.
Make sure your name matches the name on your account. If it doesn't, for example after a name change, be ready to explain.
Upload current documents. Insurance and some licences expire.
Show the issuing body: the training provider, awarding body or insurer.
Choose the most relevant evidence for the services you offer or the salon you work in.
Evidence by Type of Professional
As a guide, these are the kinds of documents professionals commonly hold. It's not a list of requirements, and the review team decides what's sufficient.
Professional | Evidence commonly held |
|---|---|
Nail technician | Nail qualification certificates, professional insurance |
Lash technician | Lash extension or lash lift training certificates, professional insurance |
Brow artist | Brow, tint or lamination training certificates, professional insurance |
Beauty or skin therapist | Beauty therapy or skin qualifications, professional insurance |
Hair professional | Hairdressing or barbering qualifications, professional insurance |
Employed professional | Salon employment evidence, qualifications |
Salon owner | Qualifications, insurance, or business evidence for the salon |
Educator or academy | Teaching qualifications, training provider details |
Students may not be eligible until qualified, depending on the evidence they can provide. If you're partway through training, check the current requirements before applying.
Why Verification Sometimes Takes Longer
Most delays come from evidence that's hard to review:
a blurred, cropped or partly obscured image
a name that doesn't match the account, without explanation
an expired or out-of-date document
evidence that doesn't relate to the stated profession
no information about the issuing body
If you're asked for more information, a clear, current copy of the specific document requested usually resolves it quickly.
What Verification Is, and Isn't
Approval confirms that BeautyBye's eligibility process was satisfied at that time. It isn't:
an endorsement of every listing, product or service. Listings are checked separately against BeautyBye's Product Safety Policy.
a guarantee about any individual item. Each listing states its own condition.
a substitute for your training or insurance for the treatments you offer.
permanent. BeautyBye can ask you to reverify after material account changes, when documents expire, or if information is inconsistent, and can restrict accounts that break the rules.
How Verification Fits With BeautyBye's Other Checks
Verification is the first of several layers, each doing a different job:
Layer | What it does |
|---|---|
Professional verification | Confirms buyers and sellers are beauty professionals or beauty businesses |
Seller profile and payout setup | Confirms a seller can be paid and meets payment-provider requirements |
Product Safety Policy checks | Rules out prohibited items; flagged listings are reviewed before going live |
Condition grades, photos and notes | Tell buyers what each individual item is like |
48-hour review window | Lets buyers raise genuine issues with posted orders after delivery |
Your own checks | Reading listings, asking questions, inspecting items on arrival |
No single layer does everything. Together, they make trading between professionals more straightforward than on an open marketplace.
Mobile and Home-Based Professionals
You don't need a salon to join. Mobile and home-based professionals usually verify with a qualification certificate and professional insurance in their own name that covers how they work. If your insurance or business name differs from your account name, say so when you submit.
If Your Verification Is Declined
Read any request for information carefully and provide exactly what's asked for. If you want to challenge a decision, email customerservice@beautybye.co.uk from your account email with an explanation. Don't send sensitive documents by ordinary email unless support gives you a secure way to do it.
Privacy and Your Documents
Verification data is used for eligibility, safety, fraud prevention and legal purposes, as set out in BeautyBye's Privacy Notice. Access is limited to authorised staff, and evidence is kept only as long as the applicable purpose, legal need and retention schedule allow.
After Verification
Once you're approved, you can:
buy professional products and equipment from other verified professionals
sell, once your seller profile is approved and your payout setup is complete
Verification is one layer of trust, not the whole thing. Buyers should still read listings, ask questions and inspect items when they arrive. Sellers should still describe condition, batch and dates accurately. See condition grades explained.
